Guys in the picture recently visited Almondvale Stadium, the home of Livingston FC, for their match against Hamilton Academical FC.
At the match, Keith Ferguson of CAFE Football spoke with a number of travelling away supporters who were interested in learning about CAFE and what we do. The supporters were surprised to hear that their club is not yet represented by the Scottish Disabled Supporters Association.
CAFE Football suggested that they start up a DSA for Hamilton Academical, and offered them some advice on how to do this. We wish them the best of luck, and will help how we can!
In November 2011, CAFE Western European Development Officer Keith Ferguson was invited to address the Federation of Hearts Supporters Clubs. This group looks after the interests of all Hearts supporters, and this also covers the Hearts Disabled Supporters Club.
Keith explained the work that CAFE have been carrying out and highlighted examples of disability abuse. He then asked for the support of the Federation in working together to stamp this out.
Then there was a session on disability awareness and an etiquette training exercise, which urged supporters to think before they speak and to not use words that could be offensive. The supporters present were then tested on which words are and are not acceptable, and passed with flying colours!
